Does My Vote Truly Matter?

Does my Vote Matter?

Labor Day weekend is finally here. This means family and friends will be gathering for those final summer BBQ's, getting those last beach trips in, and hitting the pool once more before the fall. In Virginia this also begins the final 2-month countdown to our State and Local Elections on November 7th. Without a Presidential, Governor, or Senate race voter turnout is typically low in these particular years.

You may be surprised to know that outside of Presidential election years Virginia's local election turn out is between only 40-50 ish percent. I suspect this is due to many of us wondering "Does my vote truly matter?". With both the Old parties carving up and dividing the nation and our State along their red & blue lines through decades of gerrymandering districts I fear this question will continue to become more prevalent. Even worse this has led to the Old Party politicians spending their time campaigning for others in the few remaining "Swing" Districts vs seeking out and hearing our needs locally. That's because often they are unchallenged in their "Safe" districts. No where is this clearer than looking at all the non-challenged spots on the election slate for our Legislature in Virginia this year - www.vpap.org/elections/house/candidates/general/

One of the reasons I and a handful of others have stood up to run 3rd Party and Indy campaigns is to give our communities a chance to say Enough is Enough. Enough of ignoring us locally in favor of which Special Interests, Utility, Corporation, or Billionaire owns their Party. Enough of this peddling of Fear and Division. Enough of the same old empty promises " Give us both houses and this time we really, really, pinky promise to do what we didn't do last time" .See how many times they’ve had all of Government and still done mothing on the table below this Blog from: Party control of Virginia state government - Ballotpedia

Thank you for all the donations as our campaign is really picking up speed! My campaign has been and will continue to be non-partisan in nature. Voting 3rd party isn't the same as leaving your party but instead sending them a strong message. A message to come back to the middle, a message to work for all of us, a message to stop trying to divide people or we will find someone who will listen to us.

"Does my vote truly matter?" the answer is YES, and probably more now than ever before if we want to end this cycle.

Yours in Love, Peace, & Liberty,

Dave
